Brief history of your character (100-200 word minimum): Several years ago, on a world that used to be quite nice, a group of scientists lost their hearts in a serious of dangerous experiments. What was left was a soul and a body—a Nobody in their terms—with all the memories of their former selves and abilities they’d never imagined, but no capacity to feel emotion. After a time, they decided they wanted their hearts back and formed Organization XIII for this purpose, proceeding to recruit other Nobodies from across many worlds.
Eventually, their plans needed someone with the ability to wield a Keyblade, the one object that could collect the stray hearts the Organization required. They created three plans to get one: mind control an existing Keyblade wielder, find a Nobody that could wield a Keyblade to recruit, and create their own Keyblade wielder. Xion was the result of the third plan, an artificial person made from the stolen memories of one of the Keyblade wielders, fragments of an artificial heart, and a lot of magic. The scientists who created her dubbed her “Xion”, taught her just enough to be able to function, and sent her off to run missions for the Organization.
At first, Xion had no true identity. She appeared as a hooded figure whose face was shadowed from view, never spoke, and only formed the barest of memories. But as her life continued and she befriended Roxas, a Nobody who retained his ability to use the Keyblade from his Somebody—his former, heart-possessing self— she began to form a personality and gain abilities. Roxas was the first person she ever spoke to, and he was the first person to see what Xion considers her “true” appearance, that of a fifteen-year-old girl with short black hair and wide blue eyes. (Others at the Organization had seen Xion’s “face” previously, but what they saw was something else: someone they’d wronged, someone they had plans for, an empty cloak, a blank doll.) She first developed the ability to wield the Keyblade after partnering with Roxas, and she grew stronger around him.
Not long after, Xion lost her ability to use a Keyblade in the middle of a mission and, fearing the Organization would kill her for being useless, she hid off-world until Roxas and his friend Axel found her. They helped her complete her mission and hide conceal her lost ability from the rest of the Organization until Xion regained her Keyblade. In the process, she became friends with Axel as well, and the three of them took to spending time together after missions. Life was good (or as good as it can be when half the people you know would as soon as kill you as look at you), and Xion decided that after they all regained her hearts, she would spend every day with Roxas and Axel.
Then she met Riku. Riku, who wore a black cloak but wasn’t a member of the Organization or a Nobody; Riku who wielded a Keyblade totally different from hers and Roxas’s; Riku who fought her blindfolded and still beat her easily; Riku who told Xion the Organization was evil and that she should come with him to find her own answers. Xion followed him and found those answers, both about herself and the Organization. She was a Replica, meant to steal the memories of the Keyblade wielder Sora through his Nobody, Roxas. The Organization didn’t plan to use the hearts she and Roxas gathered for anything as benign as recreating their own, though Xion never learned exactly what they planned to use that power for. Barring some miracle, Xion’s continued existence would mean that Sora, who was trapped in a magical slumber, would never awaken and that before much longer Roxas would weaken and die. But she can't quite bring herself to end her life, and she's been traveling with Riku while she tries to work up the courage to do what she's starting to suspect is the only right thing.
Brief synopsis of your character's personality (100 word minimum): Xion's sweet, shy, and pretty thoroughly convinced she can't trust anyone, even herself. She's only known that she's actually capable of feeling emotions for a couple of months, and she's spent most of that time in the company of someone who would prefer she kill herself. The rest of that time-- and the rest of her life, for that matter-- Xion's only company has been a group of people who can't feel emotions at all. So while Xion's not stupid, she is profoundly ignorant about some very basic things, and that makes questions like “what do you actually want?” difficult to answer. For that matter, Xion's not entirely sure that what she wants is “allowed” to matter. She's not a real person, according to just about everyone she's met, and Xion simply doesn't have the life experience to question them. Her heart's mostly eaten up by an ugly mess of guilt, self-loathing, and doubt, and what's left are all things Xion suspects she doesn't deserve and isn't sure she can keep.
All of this manifests mostly as gloominess and hesitation about just about everything. She doesn't know what to do with herself, how to deal with the people around her, whether she wants to be safe or happy or good. She's used to orders and tends to follow them without thinking or particularly caring, at least until enough bottled-up questions and emotions shove her onto some new course. Then she'll follow that path recklessly until her convictions and strength run out, and while she does, Xion is vibrant and fearless, if no happier. After, Xion is cast adrift again, uncertain and indifferent, at least until some new goal or new leader picks her up and starts her moving again.
Which isn't to say that Xion's completely miserable all the time. She's good at enjoying the little things-- pretty flowers, sweets, lazy hours with her friends-- and inexperienced enough that almost everything is still novel to her. She takes pleasure in her successes (when she recognizes them) and works hard to earn them. She's not exactly an optimist, but Xion's life has been unpleasant enough that most things are an improvement, and she pays close attention. She's not expecting to be able to enjoy it for long, after all.
Stats
Age: about 1 year chronologically, 15 physically/mentally
Appearance (please be sure to include any distinguishing traits that you want other characters to notice, .e.g. scars, eye color, particular jewelry): Xion's technically just a ball of magic and stolen memories, and that's left her appearance a little shaky; some people may see her as someone they have strong feelings about or as someone that reflects their feelings about her. She does have a “default” appearance-- a teenage girl with short black hair and wide blue eyes-- that the majority of people will see, and that Xion considers as close to a “true” appearance as she has. Her features tend to be hard to make out when a person first meets Xion, appearing to be shadowed or blurring or flickering between two different forms. She wears a silver ring with a small, flush set diamond obsessively, though whether or not any given person sees that is variable.
Icon (100x100 pixels, preferably textless, good quality icon for cast list):
What skills/abilities does your character have?: Basic combat magic (elemental attack spells, healing spells), decent swordfighting, ability to open a portal between any two locations she's familiar with (I'm assuming that any portal meant to end outside the dome will inside open at the dome's edge), ability to summon a Keyblade which can be used either as a sword or as a magical key to most things that can be locked
Game Information
What is the point of your character's canon in which you are introducing your character? (Year, after or during book #/comic issue/television episode, etc.) : about a month after she left the Organization for the first time (so about day 285 on the game's calendar)
Is your character alive or dead at the point of entry to the game?: Alive
Your character will find 10 personal items in their room that the island has placed there. You may only include things that your character would have canonically. Please list them here. (Clothing need not be included as it is automatically provided. Any special articles of clothing, however, e.g. a team uniform, must be listed): Xion probably doesn't own ten things, and will be showing up with her Keyblade, a small collection of seashells in a glass bottle, a silver ring with a diamond that has a defensive charm, a book on magical theory, a photograph of herself, Roxas, and Axel standing in front of a clocktower, a popsicle stick, and her black cloak.
Entry Post
Xion's eyes flickered, blinking away grit and sunlight before they stayed open. She was curled on her side, head pillowed on her folded-up coated, face turned towards a pond. She wracked her brain for any clue of where she was-- Xion had passed through enough worlds in the last few weeks that she was having trouble keeping them all straight-- and came up blank. “Riku, do you remember the name of this world?” she asked muzzily as she pushed herself into a sitting position.
No response. Xion glanced around uneasily, looking for signs of her traveling companion. Usually, when they camped outside, he stayed within a few feet until she woke. If he hadn't... Xion rolled to her feet, Keyblade flashing into her hand. No enemy emerged, and after a moment, she let the magical weapon fade away.
What had happened? Xion didn't remember getting separated, didn't even remember coming to this world. That wasn't actually so unusual, but usually it began with a stabbing headache and hallucinations. She couldn't remember any pain or visions, couldn't remember even falling asleep. This didn't have the hazy, distorted feeling that reliving Sora's stolen memories did. That meant it was probably real, and not the result of her passing out after one of her episodes and then being moved. If she'd fallen asleep instantaneously, that meant a sleep spell-- or some nasty new consequence of Xion's tenuous existence, but she put that aside for the moment. Who could have cast it, though? If it'd been the Organization, she should have woken up in the castle. If it had been Heartless, or if Riku had suddenly decided to make Xion's choice for her, she shouldn't have woken up at all.
Xion glanced around for clues, finally noticing the envelope by her feet. She picked it up. It had her name printed on one side. Probably not a good sign. There were all of fourteen people who knew Xion's name other than herself, and she'd already ruled them out. She tore the top off neatly and pulled out the contents. There was a key with a number stamped on one side and a map. Something-- whatever the key unlocked maybe?-- was marked on the map in what looked like some sort of building. Xion shrugged and bent to rescue her coat from the ground before she started walking. It wasn't like she had anything better to do.
